description: Löwenstamm served as the Oberkanor of the Munich Jewish community from 1847-1881. His setting of Psalm 29 would have been sung as the Torah was retuned to the ark. Its style is solidly in the classic/romantic idiom. While there are no traces of traditional Jewish modes, the musical setting vividly reflects the meaning of the lyrics.
